Where Technique Becomes Speed

Designed for freedivers seeking competitive-level bifins technique, greater propulsion efficiency, and deeper understanding of movement mechanics in the water.

Every kick refined

The Result

By the end of this course you will move through the water with greater precision, efficiency, and control. You will understand how propulsion is generated through the body, how small adjustments in alignment and kick mechanics affect performance, and how to reduce energy expenditure during depth dives. You will leave with a refined bifins technique, improved descent efficiency, and a deeper understanding of the movement patterns used in constant weight diving. Most importantly, you will gain practical tools to make every kick more efficient and every meter easier to achieve.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Who Is This Course For

• Freedivers who want to refine their bifins technique and improve propulsion efficiency
• Divers training for constant weight with bifins (CWTB) depth disciplines
• Performance-focused freedivers looking to reduce energy expenditure during dives
• Athletes preparing for depth training or competitive diving
• Divers who want to better understand how technique, body alignment, and equipment influence performance

Theory Session

The course includes a guided theory session focused on the mechanics and physics behind efficient bifins propulsion.

You will explore how movement is transferred from the body to the fins, how propulsion is generated underwater, and how hydrodynamics influence speed and energy expenditure. We analyze the different phases of the bifins kick cycle, including push and reposition mechanics, and examine how kick amplitude, frequency, and body alignment affect efficiency.

The session also reviews muscle activation patterns, buoyancy balance, and the interaction between diver technique and fin characteristics such as blade stiffness and responsiveness.

Understanding these principles allows divers to refine their technique more effectively and make informed adjustments during training and depth dives.

Pool & Confined Water Development

The confined water sessions focus on refining the mechanics of the bifins kick through structured drills and movement analysis.

You will work on body alignment, streamlining, and hydrodynamic positioning to reduce drag and improve propulsion efficiency. Each phase of the kick cycle is analyzed and refined, including push mechanics, reposition timing, kick amplitude, and frequency control.

Special attention is given to hip-driven propulsion, core engagement, and the transfer of energy from the body through the fins. These sessions allow you to isolate technical details, correct inefficient movement patterns, and build a smoother, more efficient kick.

You will also test different bifins to understand how blade stiffness and fin characteristics influence propulsion, control, and overall performance.

• Body alignment and streamlining
• Hydrodynamic positioning
• Push and reposition mechanics
• Optimum speed versus frequency-to-amplitude ratio
• Hip control and use of core strength
• Buoyancy and balance optimization
• Muscle recruitment and energy efficiency

Advanced Open Water Training

During the open water session, pool precision is transferred into real diving conditions.

You will apply refined bifins mechanics during controlled descent, focusing on body positioning, kick efficiency, and energy management. Special attention is given to buoyancy awareness, efficient surface-to-depth transitions, and the shift into relaxed freefall.

These sessions allow you to experience how small technical adjustments influence real depth performance. The goal is smooth propulsion, controlled descent, and intelligent energy use throughout the dive.

• Application of optimized kick mechanics
• Body positioning for CWTB diving
• Buoyancy adjustment for efficient descent
• Transition into freefall position
• Surface-to-depth efficiency awareness

Environmental Awareness & Sustainability

Depth means nothing without responsibility.

As part of your theory training, you will complete a dedicated environmental module focused on becoming a responsible freediver. Because performance without awareness has no place in the ocean.

You will learn:

• The fundamentals of marine ecosystem awareness
• The importance of Posidonia oceanica and why seabed contact matters
• How finning technique and buoyancy affect fragile habitats
• Respectful interaction guidelines for marine life
• Local environmental considerations specific to the Messinian Gulf
• How to assess shared water space with boats and other users
• Sustainable equipment and consumption choices
• Daily habits that reduce your environmental footprint as a diver

This module is not optional.
It is part of what defines a real freediver.

At Alchemy Freediving Center, responsibility toward yourself and responsibility toward the ocean are inseparable.

What This Course Really Is

This is not a beginner course.

It is a technical refinement program designed for freedivers who want to understand how efficient propulsion actually works.

Bifins diving often appears simple, but the difference between average and high-level performance lies in subtle details: alignment, timing, amplitude, and how energy is transferred through the body to the blades.

This course breaks down those details and rebuilds your technique with precision.

The goal is not to kick harder.

The goal is to move through the water with control, efficiency, and intelligence.
