Beneath The Peloponnese
Discover Diros Cave, one of Europe's most extraordinary underground landscapes. Hidden beneath the Mani Peninsula, this ancient flooded cave system...
By the end of the course, you will perform a technically precise, competition-ready monofin stroke with efficient power transfer and minimal drag. You will demonstrate improved dynamic distances, stronger dolphin kick mechanics, and consistent propulsion under controlled conditions. You leave with measurable performance gains, refined technique, and the technical foundation required for advanced dynamic training and competitive disciplines.
• Freedivers looking to improve dynamic apnea performance
• Athletes preparing for pool competitions and monofin disciplines
• Divers seeking greater propulsion efficiency and distance capacity
• Bi fin swimmers ready to transition into monofin technique
• Freedivers who want structured, performance focused training
The course includes a structured theory module that explains the mechanics behind efficient monofin swimming.
Topics include propulsion physics, body alignment, dolphin kick phases, equipment selection, and training safety.
Understanding how the body interacts with the water allows divers to correct mistakes faster and develop more efficient technique in the pool.
A written theory exam is required for certification.
Training takes place in confined water across multiple sessions designed to progressively build technical skill.
You will work on:
• Aquatic balance and floating control
• Streamlined alignment and the triangle body position
• Pelvic control and lumbar stability
• Bi-fin propulsion mechanics
• Descending and ascending dolphin kick phases
• Full monofin swimming cycle integration
• Upper and lower body synchronization
Each drill isolates a specific component of the dolphin kick before combining them into a complete movement pattern.
Depth means nothing without responsibility.
As part of your theory training, you will complete a dedicated environmental module focused on becoming a responsible freediver. Because performance without awareness has no place in the ocean.
You will learn:
• The fundamentals of marine ecosystem awareness
• The importance of Posidonia oceanica and why seabed contact matters
• How finning technique and buoyancy affect fragile habitats
• Respectful interaction guidelines for marine life
• Local environmental considerations specific to the Messinian Gulf
• How to assess shared water space with boats and other users
• Sustainable equipment and consumption choices
• Daily habits that reduce your environmental footprint as a diver
This module is not optional.
It is part of what defines a real freediver.
At Alchemy Freediving Center, responsibility toward yourself and responsibility toward the ocean are inseparable.
The AIDA Monofin Freediver course provides structured technical training, official certification, and personalized coaching to help you build a correct and efficient monofin technique from the ground up.
Your course includes:
• Official AIDA Monofin Freediver certification upon successful completion
• AIDA Monofin Freediver digital manual
• Minimum two days of structured coaching
• Four confined water training sessions
• One instructor-led theory session
• Theory examination (75% passing score required)
• Personalized technical feedback and correction throughout the training
• Use of training equipment including bi-fins, monofin, and front snorkel
• Certification processing through AIDA International
Monofin swimming represents the most efficient form of underwater propulsion in freediving.
But efficiency does not come from power.
It comes from alignment, timing, and transmission of movement through the entire body.
Training begins with essential aquatic skills including floating, balance, breathing coordination, and body awareness in the water. From there we isolate propulsion mechanics using bi-fins before integrating the full dolphin kick and complete monofin swimming cycle.
Every session focuses on technical precision.
Small adjustments in posture, pelvic control, and kick timing can transform efficiency dramatically. Throughout the course you will receive direct technical feedback to refine these movements and build correct motor patterns from the start.
By the end of the course you will leave with:
• Refined streamlining and body alignment
• A coordinated and efficient dolphin kick
• Greater propulsion efficiency with reduced energy cost
• The technical foundation required for dynamic monofin disciplines
Monofin swimming is not about strength.
It is about transmitting movement through the entire body in one uninterrupted wave.
That wave is the essence of monofin freediving.
We train in calm conditions, in small groups, with full attention on each student.
Progress happens at your pace.
Confidence grows naturally.
You are not compared to anyone.
You are guided toward your own capacity.
The AIDA Monofin Freediver program is not designed to push limits.
It is designed to build correct movement patterns from the beginning.
Monofin technique rewards precision. When the body is aligned and the timing is correct, propulsion becomes smooth, silent, and remarkably efficient.
This course gives you the technical tools to reach that level.
