Operational discipline, not improvised solutions
Depth Safety
Depth training demands more than confidence. It demands systems that function reliably under pressure. At Alchemy Freediving Center, safety is engineered into every layer of the training environment. Procedures, equipment, and personnel operate as a coordinated structure designed to support divers working at performance-level depths. Professional safety teams supervise all sessions using advanced operational tools refined through years of international competition support and deep training deployments. Motorised counterbalance recovery systems, real-time sonar tracking, high-speed underwater scooters, dedicated oxygen infrastructure, and medevac readiness combine to form a safety platform built for serious depth work.
Retrieval speed when seconds matter
Counter balance Recovery
The primary dive line operates on a fully balanced counterweight system developed for rapid, controlled retrieval. Twenty kilograms of load are positioned beneath the bottom plate and offset by an equal counterweight routed through a pulley system across the vessel. This configuration allows safety divers to recover athletes efficiently regardless of body mass or equipment load. A purpose-built electric motor enhances both speed and consistency, while all structural components are rated far beyond expected operational stress. The system incorporates five independent redundancy options, ensuring multiple retrieval pathways in emergency scenarios. Its reliability has been demonstrated across years of operation and multiple international competitions, including three World Championships.
Early detection, Immediate response
Sonar Tracking
Latest-generation sonar provides continuous real-time monitoring of divers throughout both descent and ascent phases, including depths exceeding one hundred meters. This level of visibility allows the safety team to recognise irregular movement patterns or unexpected dive profile changes immediately and deploy assistance without delay. Beyond emergency response, sonar tracking supports proactive safety decision-making, such as initiating early safety diver deployment when a diver turns shallower than planned or shows signs of altered pacing.
Reach deeper, React faster
DPV Safety
Diver propulsion vehicles significantly expand the operational reach and response capability of safety personnel. At Alchemy Freediving Center, two high-performance DPVs are deployed during operations, allowing the safety team to maintain continuous mobility and extended coverage. These units are powerful enough to assist with bottom line management and fast enough to complete a fifty-meter descent in under one minute. When operated by trained safety professionals, DPVs improve rescue efficiency, expand effective coverage zones, and reduce response time during demanding depth training sessions. Their presence transforms the safety team from reactive observers into highly mobile operational support.
Prepared for both precaution and need
Oxygen Support
Medical-grade oxygen is permanently available at the five-meter decompression station to support recovery following deep exposures or for precautionary use when required. A full-size cylinder located on the vessel connects to an oxygen-grade regulator through a ten-meter hose, allowing divers to access the station comfortably under direct supervision. In addition, full emergency oxygen equipment remains available on board at all times, including free-flow delivery systems and assisted ventilation capability through an Ambu bag, ensuring immediate response capacity if needed.
Rapid evacuation, Clear procedures
Medevac Ready
A dedicated high-speed evacuation vessel remains on constant standby during training operations, enabling rapid transport to the General Hospital of Kalamata when necessary. Trained operators manage not only the physical transfer but also the coordination of medical admission procedures and clear communication of diving-related incidents to hospital personnel. This integrated approach reduces delays and ensures that professional medical support can be accessed without uncertainty.
