Beneath The Peloponnese
Discover Diros Cave, one of Europe's most extraordinary underground landscapes. Hidden beneath the Mani Peninsula, this ancient flooded cave system...
By the end of AIDA 1, you will not just reach 10 meters on a single breath. You will learn how to breathe with structure, relax under pressure, and move in the water with control and awareness. You will understand equalization, safety protocols, and proper buddy procedures, giving you real confidence rather than guesswork. Most importantly, you will leave with trust in your abilities and a solid foundation to continue your freediving journey safely and responsibly.
Take your first breath into the world of freediving and discover the calm, freedom, and clarity that exist beneath the surface. The AIDA 1 Introduction to Freediving course is designed for complete beginners, guiding you step by step through the essential skills, knowledge, and safety foundations required to enter the underwater world with confidence and control.
• Complete beginners
• Ocean lovers who want to experience depth safely
• Swimmers ready to explore breath-hold diving
• Anyone curious about the discipline behind the beauty
If you have ever wondered what it feels like to descend on a single breath, this is your entry point.
We build understanding before we build depth.
You will learn:
• The fundamentals of freediving and how the AIDA system works
• The breathing cycle used in safe breath-hold diving
• Relaxation techniques that reduce tension and oxygen consumption
• Equalization basics for comfortable descents
• Core safety principles and buddy awareness
• Essential equipment and correct setup
• Responsible diving practices and the freediver code
This is not abstract theory.
Every concept is directly applied in the water.
You will then move into guided water sessions where theory becomes experience.
You will practice:
• Relaxation and breathing for efficient breath-holds
• Static apnea with proper recovery breathing
• Safe buddy procedures and basic rescue skills
• Equipment preparation and correct weighting
• Duck dives and streamlined body positioning
• Efficient bi-fin technique
• A gentle depth introduction up to 10 meters
All dives are closely supervised.
Safety is structured, visible, and constant.
Depth means nothing without responsibility.
As part of your theory training, you will complete a dedicated environmental module focused on becoming a responsible freediver. Because performance without awareness has no place in the ocean.
You will learn:
• The fundamentals of marine ecosystem awareness
• The importance of Posidonia oceanica and why seabed contact matters
• How finning technique and buoyancy affect fragile habitats
• Respectful interaction guidelines for marine life
• Local environmental considerations specific to the Messinian Gulf
• How to assess shared water space with boats and other users
• Sustainable equipment and consumption choices
• Daily habits that reduce your environmental footprint as a diver
This module is not optional.
It is part of what defines a real freediver.
At Alchemy Freediving Center, responsibility toward yourself and responsibility toward the ocean are inseparable.
Your AIDA 1 experience is structured, complete, and intentionally designed. Nothing essential is left out. Nothing unnecessary is added.
