Alchemy Freediving Center is looking for an experienced Freediving Instructor Trainer to join our team in Kalamata, Greece. This is a position for someone who takes teaching seriously, understands the responsibility that comes with working in the water, and wants to become part of a center that continues to grow.

We are not simply looking for another instructor to fill a position. We are looking for someone who wants to become part of ALFC.

Teaching will naturally be a major part of the role, but we are looking beyond the ability to deliver a course successfully. A great freediving instructor has to understand people. Students arrive with different abilities, expectations, fears and ambitions. Some are entering deep water for the first time. Others arrive with years of experience and very specific objectives. The responsibility of an instructor is not simply to deliver information and complete standards. It is to understand the person in front of them and create the conditions in which they can learn, progress and feel safe.

That requires technical knowledge, but it also requires patience, awareness, communication and judgment. At ALFC, we believe that the quality of a freediving center is ultimately defined by the quality of the experience it provides to every person who trains there. From the first briefing to the final dive, professionalism matters. Safety matters. The way students are treated matters. We are looking for someone who believes the same.

Freediving demands an unusually high level of responsibility from those who teach it. An instructor needs to remain calm when conditions change, recognize problems before they develop, understand when a student should progress and, equally importantly, understand when they should not. There is no room for shortcuts.

The person joining our team will be expected to maintain the highest standards of safety and education throughout courses, training sessions and daily operations. We are looking for someone who is confident in the water without needing to prove it, capable of making decisions under pressure, and willing to take responsibility when responsibility is required.

Being an Instructor Trainer adds another layer to that role. You are not only developing freedivers. You are helping develop the people who will eventually be responsible for other freedivers. That responsibility should never be taken lightly.

This is not an entry-level position. Applicants must be certified Freediving Instructor Trainers and have experience working within established, high-volume freediving centers. We want someone who understands the realities of a professional operation and is comfortable with the pace and responsibility that come with it.

The role requires fluent English, while additional languages are a significant advantage. A valid boat driver’s license is also required, as our daily operation extends well beyond the classroom. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential. So are reliability, independence and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. We need someone who can lead when necessary, support when necessary and understand the difference.

Working at ALFC means being involved in much more than the hours spent teaching in the water. There are courses to prepare. Equipment to manage. Boats to operate. Depth and pool sessions to coordinate. Students arriving from different parts of the world. Athletes training alongside recreational freedivers. Instructor development. Safety procedures. Logistics. Conditions that need to be assessed every morning and plans that sometimes need to change.

A professional center works because the people behind it understand that all of these details matter. The successful candidate will teach freediving courses across different levels, contribute to the development of the instructor team, assist with the daily operation of the center and boat, and help maintain the standards that define ALFC.

But we also expect something less easily written into a job description. We expect involvement. If something needs doing, you do not walk past it because it falls outside the narrow definition of your position. If a colleague needs support, you help. If there is a better way of doing something, you contribute. That mentality matters to us.

We are specifically looking for someone interested in a long-term opportunity. The right person will have the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility as the center develops. We want someone who can grow into the role, contribute ideas, help other members of the team develop and eventually become an integral part of how ALFC operates.

Continuous learning is part of that. Holding an Instructor Trainer certification does not mean there is nothing left to learn. We expect everyone at the center, regardless of experience, to remain curious, question established methods when appropriate and continue developing as coaches, instructors and freedivers. Experience gives you a foundation. It should never become an excuse to stop improving.

The position is based at Alchemy Freediving Center in Kalamata, Greece. For freedivers, Kalamata offers something difficult to replicate: access to serious depth training combined with the infrastructure and quality of life of a real Mediterranean city.

The sea is not somewhere we travel to occasionally. It is where we work. Depth sessions, courses, athlete training and daily center operations form the rhythm of life here. For someone who has chosen to build a professional life around freediving, it is an environment that allows the sport to become part of everyday life rather than something squeezed around it.

Your primary responsibility will be teaching freediving courses across different levels while delivering the standard of education, safety and student experience expected at ALFC. As an Instructor Trainer, you will also lead by example and contribute to the development of the wider instructional team. You will participate in daily center and boat operations, help maintain equipment and operational standards, and contribute to the continued development of our courses, training environment and overall operation.

Most importantly, you will be responsible for the people who come here to learn. We want every student to leave ALFC not simply with another certification, but as a more confident, capable and knowledgeable freediver.

We care about whether students trust you, whether colleagues can rely on you and whether you maintain the same standards on an ordinary Tuesday morning that you would when somebody is watching.

Professionalism and kindness are not opposites. Neither are high standards and a welcoming environment. We believe the best instructors combine all of them.
